Permanently Disable Notification Center in OS X Mountain Lion [Mac Tips]

Permanently Disable Notification Center in OS X Mountain LionNotification Center is one of Mountain Lion's coolest features, but never everyone likes it. If you want to get rid of Notification Center completely (and its icon), OS X Daily shows off a simple terminal command to do just that.

When we talked about Mountain Lion's annoyances and answered your questions about the new OS, many of you were asking for a way to kill off Notification Center. Here's how to do it. First open up Terminal (Applications > Utilities), and then type the following command:

 launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.notificationcenterui.plist

Push enter, and then type:

 killall NotificationCenter

That's it, you're done. Notification Center is gone and you've gained back that precious menu bar space. Head over to OS X Daily for the full guide and an alternate method.
